Let The Otis Set the Soundtrack to Your stay
Welcome to Austin, the heart of Texas and the Live Music Capital of The World.
At The Otis Hotel, we curate musical experiences as a part of your stay in Austin. Each of our guest rooms is outfitted with its own turntable and selection of records by an eclectic mix of artists. Guests who are looking for a more personalized experience can share their musical preferences with our Vinyl Ambassador, who serves as our resident music professor, prior to checking in. The Vinyl Ambassador will hand pick a custom assortment of records to fit their music profile from our expansive library of LPs and have them ready for guests to discover and enjoy throughout their stay. Our Vinyl Ambassador is also available for one-on-one curating or live listening sessions in our lobby, whether guests are looking to reconnect with an old favorite or unearth a new sound.

In addition to the small selection of vinyl found in each guest room, guests will find a custom record that was created exclusively for The Otis Hotel. The album artwork, thoughtfully designed by University of Texas student Claudia Durand, was inspired by Austin’s lively energy and rich history as the Live Music Capital of the World, while the records themselves feature two legendary artists with deep Texas roots: Janis Joplin and Leon Bridges.
Janis Joplin, deemed the first queen of rock ‘n’ roll, was born and raised in the Texas gulf town of Port Arthur and attended the University of Texas at Austin. The late legend is rumored to have lived and written music in West Campus’ “Pink Palace” before moving to San Francisco where she found stardom.
Leon Bridges, a present-day soul singer with a style that has drawn comparisons to old school crooners like Sam Crooke and Otis Redding, honed his sound performing in and around his native Fort Worth.
Check out our Sounds of The Otis playlist for a sneak peek of the wide variety of artists whose work can be found in our extensive vinyl library, or check out our Spotify page to discover more of our favorites.

Meet Our Ambassador
Meet Jack White, our onsite Vinyl Ambassador dedicated to guiding our guests through our library of records. As the Vinyl Ambassador, Jack provides guests with an immersive music experience during their visit to the Live Music Capital of the World by curating custom album selections based on their personal preferences.
“One of my absolute favorite things about vinyl is the tactility of it- you get to hold it, experience it and bond with it in a way that few other music formats can match,” White says. “Knowing you’re gonna have to flip the record makes you subconsciously listen that much more, and it makes it that much easier to get sucked into the world unfurling on the turntable in front of you.”
When he isn’t sharing his passion for music with guests of The Otis, you can find Jack walking absurdly long distances through Austin, seeking out new and exciting experiences around town (especially culinary ones) and writing and recording music of his own.
